My name is Lorna Casse, and like many of you I have had my share of frustrations and disappointment with my hair, leaving me self-conscious and upset on various occasions. While how we look does not define who we are, it can somehow affect how we feel about ourselves and often gives us a false sense of being judged by others, especially in a new crowd.
About my hair …
I have curly frizzy hair which when left to its own devices can probably outcompete a lion’s mane! (You can’t tell from the picture above!)
For as long as I can remember I have struggled with trying to tame the curls and the frizz. Since a very young age, I was introduced to chemical hair straightening, and perhaps that it was society that groomed me into believing that straight was the best thing for me.
Every stylist would comment on how tremendously thick and frizzy my hair was, almost to make me feel like I had to apologize for it. Talk about a blow to your self-esteem!
Of course, hair straightening treatments don’t last and this was getting to be an inefficient and expensive way to maintain my hair (not to mention the damage that was being inflicted.). God knows how many products I have tried, hoping that every new suggestion might be able to solve my issue. None of it worked, and I gave up trying. The easiest thing to do was to keep the hair tied up in a pony tail.
The defining moment for my hair
A few years ago, I started working at Living Proof, in Cambridge, MA as a research chemist. Back then we were still working on the No Frizz line which is still doing wonders for my hair. (yes, that might seem a bit biased, but the fact is that it is the only product that can keep my hair straight for days without being oily!)
So why did I create Hair Momentum?
I realized just how many people could benefit from my expertise:
- To get science-backed advice on best practices for hair health
- To them help them learn and understand what their hair needs
- To help them decide which products are more appropriate
- To clarify ambiguous/confusing topics and make them more understandable
- To examine the ingredients, marketing claims and other hair related topics
I sincerely hope that you will find the answers that you seek here as I do my best to keep true to my mission of providing sound information.
